"Blood diamond"

Watched "Blood Diamond" yesterday. Has wanted to watch it for a long time, so I'm glad I finally got round to do it. DiCaprio is just great. That guy is an amazing actor. And Djimon Hounsou is also great, as usual.

Brilliant film set in Sierra Leone during the 90's. Very scary, as you know that many of the things, about the situation in Sierra Leone at that time, is based on reality. Recognized certain things from what I've read and heard. Horrible. Just glad that it's over.

What is not over though, is how the West affect and often manipulate situations in the rest of the world. Thinking about the cutting down of rain forest for the production of palm oil in Malaysia and Indonesia. Or the nasty fur markets in China. That's just two of many horrible examples.

I also waited a long time to watch "Blood Diamond;" wasn't sure if it would be good or not. Really liked it.

And I totally agree with you about how the West so often manipulates so much of the world. I was just watching a documentary about filmmaking in Iran and had forgotten that the CIA helped topple the Shah back in the 70's. Frustrating.

Oh, and thanks for commenting on the film I went to see; I'm still getting around to responding to people's comments. I'm getting lazy in my old age. :)

Well Tom, considering how many people that are reading your blog and commenting on it, it's very understanding that you sometimes find it difficult to have the time and/or motivation to respond to all comments :) Other bloggers that I read do not respond on every comment. So I'm sure it's not you getting lazy or old. Just consider it normal :)
